Nicola is an educator and a published Bloomsbury author. She holds a B.A. in English and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from London University. Her teaching experience spans fourteen years, working as vice-principal and principal of several schools in the UK.
Now based in California, Nicola has worked for many years as a judge for international writing competitions. Over the last few years, she has given editing feedback on several thousand short stories, poetry and screenplays. But her favorite work is as a writing coach for high schoolers and transfer students as they make the important step of applying to college. She has coached numerous students from the US and the UK, and prides herself on being a calm, encouraging mentor for her students. A parent of three college-aged students herself, she finds great joy in helping students explore and develop their unique voice as they craft great college essays.
In her free time, Nicola can be found volunteering at a youth ranch, where she combines her love of teaching teenagers with her passion for animals - especially pygmy goats and lop-eared rabbits.
