Jon graduated from Middlebury College in 2014 with a B.A. in History. Since his major focused on Asian history, Jon moved to China after graduation to work as an English teacher and expand on his studies. There, he learned how to engage with students from different backgrounds and age groups, gaining more interest in his role as a mentor. After teaching for one year, Jon decided that the best way to significantly impact his students’ future was to work individually with them rather than in large classrooms, which limited meaningful interactions. Thus, he became an education consultant advising students on every aspect of the US college admissions process. Jon guided a wide array of students on how to combine their personal stories, high school careers, and aspirations into compelling profiles that have helped them gain admission into universities in the USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, including notable placements at Yale, Penn, Brown, Duke and UCLA.
Three years later, Jon moved to Shenzhen to further his Chinese studies while working with a larger consulting firm. Knowing that individuality is key to great applications, he worked with several schools to develop extracurricular programs that allowed their students to build personalized activities and capstone projects, highlighting their passion and strengths. While he enjoys building exciting student projects, he also enjoys other aspects of the college admissions process such as the personal statement, preparing students for interviews, and crafting effective activities lists/resumes. Jon has almost ten years of experience working as a college admissions consultant and is currently based in New York City, his hometown.
