Elena has been writing professionally for over 20 years helping NGOs and their communities tell their stories. She is also a seasoned middle and high school Spanish tutor who has the privilege of bringing the language to life and giving her students the confidence to express themselves in new ways.
It was a natural transition when she began working with college-bound students on admissions essays five years ago. Just as with her language teaching, Elena makes the process less daunting through thoughtful guidance and questions. She loves seeing their writing come alive by helping students put forth their bold, authentic selves.
In addition, Elena has done extensive programmatic work in global and environmental health, including work on national and international studies examining the intersections of pollution exposures and health outcomes
Elena has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a master's degree from NYU in International Relations.
She is excited to be a part of the ILUMIN Education team and is honored to be a part of our students’ college journeys!
